Joseph Mifsud of Zebbug is a name synonymous with the manufacture of high quality wooden apertures.   When just a young lad of fourteen, Joseph Mifsud attended Mriehel Technical School, where he was strongly advised and encouraged by his mother to choose mechanics as his line of study. But having a mind of his own, he decidedly opted for carpentry and technical design. He did not have an inclination for academic subjects, but he surely excelled in maths, woodwork and design. He was greatly encouraged by his teachers because in him they saw skill, determination and most of all love for the trade!   Once he left school, with lots of theory in his mind, he found a job as an apprentice with an experienced carpenter who excelled in the manufacture of solid wooden furniture. His love for the trade grew day by day and so did his experience. After a few years as an apprentice, he felt he had to move on, and together with his brother, he started his own first carpentry workshop. That's how it all started - in a small garage in Zebbug.   Way back in 1981, he got his first 'big project' - to completely finish a small hotel - doors, windows, furniture and all. With the need for another two employees, he started building around him a small group of young carpenters and sprayers - some of whom are still working with him to the present day. As a result of this, the business also had to move to new and bigger premises –but always in Zebbug.   In 1996 came the great step forward. With more and more talk about energy saving, even with regards to house construction, came the decision to invest in state of the art machinery which would totally revolutionize the way in which wooden apertures were manufactured in Malta. He was the first to use new profiles, double glazing and double rubber all round - all in combination with solid wood. All this resulted in weather proof houses and more satisfied clients.   But this applied not only to high quality wooden doors and windows. The firm, now passing into the hands of Joseph's two sons and son-in-law, together with a dedicated team of employees, manufacture custom-made bedrooms, kitchens, vanity cupboards and Maltese balconies. Their clients, more often than not, start discussing and seeking their advice even when their house is still on paper. No mass production, but one of a kind bedrooms or kitchens made solely for the individual client to his particular needs and design.   Attention to detail and utmost importance to the client's wishes is what has led to the constant success this small firm has enjoyed through these last forty years! 

In 1995, Clifford Portelli and Peter Ray Portelli founded the first Street Dance crew in Malta.    Over the years, they have taken part in the Battle of Respect; The Malta International Dance Festival; The Bay Music Awards, performing with Kristina Casolani, DJ Ruby, Rebecca Dafter and DJ Toby; The Goldwell Awards; Notte Bianca; Indifest; Beerfest; Birgufest and Malta Summer HitSong. In 2007, Waterfall Dancers and Mandy's Dance Academy co-produced Shakespeare's Romeo, as well as supported the performers from the well-known programme ‘Amici’, who came to Malta in 2008.    In 2010, Waterfall Dancers were part of the opening act for Akon's concert in Malta. Additionally, they appeared on several local television programmes and were the resident dancers of ‘Kalamita’ for two years, finalists on ‘I.D’ in 2009 and in 2011, eight dancers from the crew were chosen on ‘Starmakers’, participating in intensive workshops from professional foreign dancers. Four Waterfall Dancers made it to the finals and one won an open scholarship at the Pineapple Dance Studios in London.    In 2012, Waterfall Dancers were co-choreographers and official dancers for the D.R.E.A.M.S live show in Malta and Gozo, and in 2011, they competed in Ragusa, Sicily and placed first from all the crews and the showdance.    In August 2013 the Dancers began their journey to the Urban Dance Camp in Germany, and were introduced to four foreign choreographers; Chris Martin, Jawn Ha, Kapella Mama and Lyle Beniga.   In 2014, two choreographers from the school took part in the Battle of Respect, and the Waterfall Dancers were even proud guests of the Junior Eurovision and the Malta Eurovision Song Contests. Peter and his dance crew are working on more shows and competitions, both locally and abroad, but most importantly; Waterfall Dancers will be constantly working towards keeping teens off the streets by introducing them to dance, whilst preserving the hip-hop culture and real street dance in Malta.

 CentreSTAGE is a performing arts company which knows its basis in musical theatre. It started off in Summer 2010 during a Musical Theatre workshop lead by Tiziana Calleja. The workshop had ended with a performance full of musical hits, entitled ‘GLEE!’ This first performance was a success and gave initiative to the group to look beyond that point and take their skills a step forward. From then on, CentreSTAGE came into action. Workshops are regularly held between the group itself so as to strengthen performing skills. Working on stamina, breathing, voice, ear training and rehearsing with fast pace proves the groups’ abilities and dedication. Hard work and concentration is required, and despite the fact that all members lead their different lifestyles; with some still being students, and others having full-time jobs to attend to; CentreSTAGE has been kept going by the new opportunities which arise from time to time. Amongst some of our performances, one may find Cabaret Shows, Carol Singing in various local hotels and at the Malta International Airport, performing in local activities on a national basis. CentreSTAGE also had regular participation in a live TV programme back in 2012, where the group performed one number from a musical every week throughout the show’s run time. In 2012, various members from CentreSTAGE sat for the Trinity College examinations in Musical Theatre, achieving some of the highest marks possible. This continued to build the bond between the members. A key factor between the group is this particular bond which allows them to regard each other not as co-workers, but as very close friends, and this is greatly evident in their confidence when performing as a group. Welcome to the Royal Malta Golf Club (RMGC). From the relative spartan beginnings of a clubhouse in St Anne’s Ditch and a 9-hole course around the bastions of Valletta, to the parkland course in Marsa where the club currently resides, organised golf has been played in Malta since 1888. The Royal Malta Golf Club was founded by Lieutenant-General Sir Henry D’Oyley Torrens KCB KCMG.  Sir Henry had started the Royal Cape Golf Club in South Africa 3 years earlier, and on his posting to Malta as Governor and Commander-in-Chief decided that Malta needed a golf club.  The then Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Alfred Ernest Albert, the third son of Queen Victoria, was based in Malta at the time, and became a founder member, hence the royal patronage from where the club gets its name. Today’s course offers 18 holes of golf in a green oasis just outside Valletta.  At par 68, the course is not one of the longest, but the apparent simplicity is deceptive as it demands accuracy off the tee and the relatively small greens are well protected.  It offers a good challenge for the more experienced golfer, but at the same time is kind to the beginner. The Palazzo Abela was built by Monsignor Leonardo Abela between 1562 and 1564. Monsignor Abela was born of a noble family in Mdina in 1541. He studied in Malta and became a Doctor of both canon and civil law. In 1582, he acted as one of the signatories of the report to Pope Gregory XIII that led to the adoption of the so-called Gregorian calendar. Pope Gregory XIII appointed Monsignor Abela to Bishop of Sidonia in Asia Minore on July 20, 1582. He received his Episcopal Consecration from Cardinal Santori on the 19th of August in the same year. Pope Gregory VIII named him Vicar General of the island of Malta. Bishop Abela died in Rome on May 2, 1605, and was buried at the Basilica of St. John Lateran. He remains to this day the only Maltese to receive burial at the Papal Archbasilica.   In his native island, Abela had a summer residence constructed in the village of Tarxien. The Palace was believed to be one of the first built during the sixteenth century by noblemen and Grandmasters. It is one of the few that still stands today.   The Palazzo is of typical Maltese architecture, which gives it a typically medieval aspect. There are a number of small rooms and shapeless spaces on different levels linked to each other. Most of its original features have been retained, such as the high arched ceilings, vaulted roofs, large courtyard, mature gardens and frescoed chapel.  CentreSTAGE is a performing arts company which knows its basis in musical theatre. It started off in Summer 2010 during a Musical Theatre workshop lead by Tiziana Calleja. The workshop had ended with a performance full of musical hits, entitled ‘GLEE!’ This first performance was a success and gave initiative to the group to look beyond that point and take their skills a step forward. From then on, CentreSTAGE came into action. Workshops are regularly held between the group itself so as to strengthen performing skills. Working on stamina, breathing, voice, ear training and rehearsing with fast pace proves the groups’ abilities and dedication. Hard work and concentration is required, and despite the fact that all members lead their different lifestyles; with some still being students, and others having full-time jobs to attend to; CentreSTAGE has been kept going by the new opportunities which arise from time to time. Amongst some of our performances, one may find Cabaret Shows, Carol Singing in various local hotels and at the Malta International Airport, performing in local activities on a national basis. CentreSTAGE also had regular participation in a live TV programme back in 2012, where the group performed one number from a musical every week throughout the show’s run time. In 2012, various members from CentreSTAGE sat for the Trinity College examinations in Musical Theatre, achieving some of the highest marks possible. This continued to build the bond between the members. A key factor between the group is this particular bond which allows them to regard each other not as co-workers, but as very close friends, and this is greatly evident in their confidence when performing as a group. The band consists of four main members – Norbert Camilleri on keyboards, Kurt Dimech on bass guitar, percussionist Aldo Consiglio and vocalist Diane Castillo. These four members serve as the backbone, accompanying other musicians such as singers, guitarists (or both), sax players and violinists.
